Thank you so much! I am wondering if you have a planning guide or document I can use with teachers to help them map a unit, to incorporate the main points you mentioned in the podcast? The planning sheet could show how we start with the big ideas of the chapter, then find that purposeful tasks to start off and then show how to map out the big ideas and practice from there, to create a web based on students during the task. What do you think?

      Hi Cindy,

I love this idea! In our online workshop (makemathmoments.com/onlineworkshop) we take a deep dive into planning. We also include a full year digital math planner that hit on the 3-part making math moments that matter framework as well as some scaffolding handouts for along the way.

I like the idea of trying to create a mini-version of this to share out for those who are interested. I’ll add it to our “to-do” list.

In the meantime, you might find the Complete Spiralling Guide and video series helpful: tapintoteenminds.com/spiralling-guide

In there, you’ll not only get a full written summary, but you’ll have the option to watch the video series as well as download the cheat sheets (e-books in PDF form).

      Hope this helps!

    Hi Jon and Kyle,

Is there any way to get an electronic transcript of your podcasts? I enjoy the podcasts and I like to follow up on new info with reading through main points as a way of internalizing what has been taught.

As a side note, I am currently in your current MMMM workshop and loving it.

    Thanks!

      Hi Alex!
We are considering getting transcripts done to post on the show notes page. Haven’t gotten there (yet) though 🙂

Glad to hear you’re LOVING the online workshop!

This was a fabulous episode of a great podcast. I listened to it several days ago and have been turning things over in my mind ever since. I’m feeling more confident in how I can re-plan for next year using these ideas, your search for 3-act tasks (brilliant idea) – and now your webcast. Cool! I use many of the great resources/games/challenges out there to inspire mathematical thinking but it would be wonderful to use my time more effectively and feel more organized in the big picture. I really appreciate all your hard work.

Figuring out/finding all the different ways students might solve a problem is a large task for someone that did not learn math through exploration. I am learning by observing my students but am not sure I know enough. This year I am in the high school and am carefully pondering what the big ideas are. This is not my comfort zone but I am willing to access the guides and other tools you two provide. Thank you for this resource!

I am not able to access the spiraling guide mentioned in your podcast on tapintoteenminds. Might that resource be somewhere else?
