Reprsenting and Comparing Fractions: A Sneak-Peek Into a Grade 3 Virtual Class
Today I had the opportunity to do some learning with a group of grade 3 students related to representing and comparing fractions. Rather than simply pre-teaching concepts, we dove into a problem based lesson that was modified from a favourite Make Math Moments unit called The Wooly Worm Race!
This is a fantastic problem based lesson that you can use in your primary (with this modified version) or upper elementary / middle school math classroom to engage in all kinds of fraction learning fun.
Watch as we dive into an edited ‘summary’ of this distance learning class where we share some of the key parts of the lesson including the Sparking Curiosity intro through the Curiosity Path, Fuelling their Sense Making through a productive struggle prompt and keep an eye for how we can Ignite Our Teacher Moves throughout!
Give a quick watch to find out how! All relevant links are located below the video.
